Ep. 32 - A Really Grade Interview with Ryan from Gem Rate, Part I

Ryan Stuczynski from GemRate (@gemrate on Instagram and gemrate.com) is a self professed data junkie who was first a Cleveland sports team collector submitting cards for grading and wanted to learn ore about the grading space.  So he used his finance and data analytics background to turn his love of The Hobby into a full time job.  He now provides pop report information on four major grading companies on a monthly basis.  This is Part I where we talk about what GemRate is, how this information is free to the consumer, and why and how Ryan’s monthly reports focus on the four major grading companies.  Ryan also reports that in July 2023, more than half of the cards submitted for grading to PSA (over 500K cards total!) were just from Pokemon cards! A pop report is a published census showing the total number of cards graded by a third-party grading company. For any given card in any given grade (e.g. Mint 10), there will be a published pop report showing how many times the grading service has awarded that exact grade to that exact card.
