Ep. 32 The Murder of Martha Moxley and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow

This week Danielle starts off the episode discussing the murder of Martha Moxley. A fifteen-year-old girl from Greenwich, CT whose body was found in front of her house on Halloween day in 1975. A golf club determined to be the murder weapon was found nearby. It was determined the golf club belonged to the Skakel household, one of her neighbors. Their son Michael Skakel was considered the prime suspect. Skakel, a nephew of Ethel Skakel Kennedy, was able to fight his conviction for decades.  Later, Sandra talks about the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow was written by Washington Irving and was first published in 1819. The story tells a young teacher in Sleepy Hollow NY, on Halloween night while he was on his way home he encounters the headless horseman in the woods and is never seen again. This story has not only inspired the Disney version of " The Adventures of Icabod and Mr. Toad" but has also inspired the Halloween festival in Sleepy Hollow, NY.
