With the marginally anticipated return of the Backseat DJ long past and perhaps remembered and possibly cherished likely by some or even a few folks, our musical protagonist (Sticky People) returns from his roots back to the branching streams of hardware driven, live, improvisational performance. This mix captures a moment in effervescence - as is the nature of performance. I'd like to take a moment and reflect on the wonderful opportunity we at Starlight Reunion have been given to archive moments like these - live musical improvisation, edge of your seat selecting, careful curation, sharing a space with sound and people; all breaching a dance floor like flash lightning in the night. I'd like to thank Sticky People, as well as the multitude of artists who have contributed to this vast archive of an often all too momentary art form. There was a lot of that last year too. Come to think of it, there’s been a lot since! I didn’t really feel like doing anything pretty for this set. That was also kind of nerve wracking, because this was at the union club. These people are not here for me. They’re mostly here to drink. But instead of trying to “play the hits” (cuz you know i got em!) or playing to the crowd, I really just wanted to get weird with it.
