Ep:33 Alex Lloyd
from YOU CAN TALK TO ME - A Beatles Podcast · host Mike Croaker
Alex Lloyd has delivered some of the most enduring songs in the history of Australian music. Following the dissolution of the blues-rock infused band, MOTHER HUBBARD, in the late 1990’s, he returned to the scene with his stunning debut, BLACK THE SUN. Certified 2x Platinum, it was the launchpad for a truly wonderful body of work showcasing an artist in a class all his own. For me, this transition from band to solo artist, out of the gates with a mighty launch, just having to get these songs out, felt very George and ALL THINGS MUST PASS adjacent. His strong sense of melodic structure, and instinctive craft for songwriting generally, has always felt Beatles inspired to my ears, so I reached out and Alex was gracious enough to spend a little time in conversation. ECHOES OF HOME is his latest single at the time of this episode, while Alex hits the road with dates spread across Australia.
