Hi everybody and welcome to The Daily Grind. I'm your host, Colin Morgan, and five days a week, I aim to motivate, educate, and inspire you to live the life of your dreams. I interview some of the most successful and inspiring people along with sharing insight of my own in order for you to not only be successful in what you're doing, but prosper in business and life. The show is for grinders.

People who don't just have dreams, but are willing to lay it all on the line and grind for what they want. Welcome everyone to The Daily Grind. Hey grinders. Recently, I've started to rebuild my website using Wix.

See in the past, a website for a non-techy person like myself was really a pain in the butt. I had to find someone to build the site, relay what I wanted, pay thousands of dollars, only to have to go through months of editing, and eventually just putting up with what I had. I wanted to start with a blank slate and design my website the way I wanted it. That's why I chose Wix.

First, I was able to start building my site and publish it for free. I chose from over 500 stunning templates to find the exact feel and look that I was looking for. I could change, customize, and add anything I wanted, wherever I wanted. Now I've only been working on the site for about an hour a day for the past two weeks.

I'm not quite finished yet, but can't believe how quick and easy it's been to use and how professional it looks. What would have taken me months to complete in the past and thousands of dollars, I have completed in only a few short hours myself. Plus, everything is automatically optimized for any device, desktop or mobile, which for me is super important for my business. What I've learned is that building a website doesn't have to cost thousands.

It doesn't have to be a headache, and can actually be really easy and enjoyable with Wix. To get started using Wix today and get 10% off, go to wix.com forward slash podcast, again that is wixwix.com forward slash podcast. Happy Friday, everyone. Welcome back to the Daily Grind.

On today's episode, we are hitting the topic right in the head, okay, for you. Hopefully this clears some things up for you, but we're going to figure out why you're not taking any action. Now, I know if you're listening to the show, then you want to make a change, or you want to grow as a person, a business, as an entrepreneur. You want to grow, you want to get better, you want to accomplish more, you want to make a bigger impact, but for some reason, you have not taken any action yet.

And first of all, I want to let you know that this is an issue that so many people, including myself, go through every single day. But there are reasons, there are reasons, I'm going to share with you my reasons. And maybe by sharing with you my reasons that I didn't take action early on, it may click for some of you. Maybe you start thinking about things that are holding you back yourself from getting started.

And for me, first and foremost, you have to realize that your parents love you. Your parents want the best for you. Your family wants the best for you. But they also don't have all the answers.

And when we're young, we look to our parents and we look to our family for advice so much. And sometimes it's not great advice, like I'll tell you guys, I've gotten some of my best advice from my mom and dad, but I've also gotten some of the worst advice from my mom and dad. So you have to be able to filter out what it is that you're the information that you're getting from your family and from others. But we're going to start with family here because although family wants the best for you, sometimes it's hard for them to understand what you want to accomplish.

See if you want to go out and make a million dollars, but your family's never made six figures. Like to them, that sounds like a very unrealistic task. So when they come back to you and you tell them you want to make seven figures and they give you a weird response, that's not out of them wanting you to fail. But just out of confusion for themselves, like they just can't see how you can get there.

And when you get those response backs, like I'm looking to make a million dollars and you don't get, you know, calling, yes, you can do it way to go. Like if you feel discouraged, because you're like, if I don't get support for my family, who can I get support from? But it's super difficult for me. It's the same thing all the time.

My goals are almost too big for myself, but I love it. For me, I love it. You have to understand how to filter out the noise because there's so many people out there want to give you advice and a lot of it is bad advice. Even your family is giving you bad advice.

The point of this show, why I started it back in November, 2017, was to show you the blueprint of how successful people have gotten to where they are. And through over 330 episodes, the message has been clear. It's been consistent. Learn from those who have come before you.

Learn from those who are doing what you want to do. Learn from those who have accomplished what you want to accomplish. Listen, learning from anyone else would just be stupid. That'd be trying to learn golf and then going to Cine Croz, being asking him for golf lessons, like Cine Croz, he's a hockey player, great athlete, but he can't help you with golf.

You're barking down the wrong tree. You're getting bad advice. That's number one. Stop getting bad advice.

Know that you're getting bad advice and find people who support you who will give you good advice. Number two is fear. And for me, it was a fear of what others were going to think. I think this is a big one.

I mean, especially when you are younger, when you're a little bit older and more established, this doesn't affect you as much. It still does. It still affects people. But I think when you're younger, you really, really care about what your peers think of you.

You really care. And especially as you're getting started in your life and in your business, you want this to have this perception and you want people to think that you're doing really well. And oftentimes, by doing that, it's going to hinder you from doing what you have to do in order to be successful. Like, we all want to travel across the world, but can we all afford it to get what we want?

Right? We make six figures a year. We think that's amazing, but our expenses are $7,000 a month. So really, you're breaking even just to show this perception that you're doing better than you are.

And this can be an exhausting, exhausting thing, trying to put on this face that, you know, I'm doing better than I am or I'm further ahead than I actually am. And when you do that and you start to buy things or you go to dinner and you try to be a big shot and you go out for it, you just try to put this perception on who you really aren't. What it is, is once you do it the first time, you can't stop because you don't want to think that you don't want people to think after that that you've gotten worse or that you're starting to not make money. So it gets you on a very, very dangerous path.

And that all stems from the fear of what other people think. And even further than that, most people don't start businesses because they care about what their friends are going to think more than what they care about what they think of themselves. Mm. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Do you care about what others think as much as you care about what you think of yourself? Think about that. Think about that for a second. If you don't care about yourself more, something you need to work on.

Is it a problem? Sure. But all problems can be solved. So if you want to solve that problem, again, we go through that change, identify it, understand how those thoughts are coming in, change those bad thoughts, put in the new thoughts.

You're going to go through that stage of seeing great results, stay consistent with it and have to have that vision, which is going to make you want to do that. Which leads me to number three, like you have to have the vision. Most people think like you have to know what you want exactly. And that's not true.

Like I just believe you have to know you have to have a really solid feeling for what you want in your life and not things, but what do you want your life to look like? How many hours when you're 30, 40, 50, 60 years old, how many hours do you want to be working? Do you want to be traveling more? You're going to have kids, so you need more time.

You want to have animals, so you're going to need more time, but you have to look at these things and say, I need to build a business or I need to create a lifestyle that is going to make me happy. And for a lot of you, it's not about being rich. It's not about making $10 million a year. Not all of you are going to get psyched by making $10 million a year, but maybe some of you are going to get psyched by making six figures and only having to work 10 hours a week.

Like maybe that's what you want and that's completely fine, but you have to know what it is that you want. You have to know what it is that you want, not things, but you have to understand what your life is going to look like 20 years down the road and every decision you make will be based around that. I'm going to start this business. Well, this business is going to take me working 70 hours a week forever because once I start I'm going to want to grow it, is that really what I want?

It's going to make me a bunch of money, but is that really what I want? That question has to be answered. And next, we're going to talk about advice again, but outside advice. So many people think that they're experts, coaches, and so many people are full of shit.

So many people want to tell you that they know best. So many people have never done anything themselves and want to offer you that they're a business expert, but they don't run a business. They run a coaching business and they help other coaches become coaches and make money doing what they do. That's not a business.

People put on events. They think they're entrepreneurs. They're not. They charge $2,000 a seat.

You're not going to get $2,000 worth of value. So for me, I think that's a scam. That's just my opinion. I'm just trying to be real with you guys.

You bought a ticket to an event and it has not been worth it. I really want you to raise your hand. And now I'm not talking about the connections you made at the event. I'm not talking about networking.

I'm talking about the actual event itself. Typically speaking, everyone who I speak to has been doing an event like this. It's really not about the event. It's about the people you meet at the event.

That's it. So you're spending, think about it. You're spending hundreds or thousands of dollars to meet people. Like, what?

You can meet people every day if you ever run a podcast. You can meet people every day if you just reach out and ask for help. You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars to do that. I'm an introvert.

I don't like going to those events. I don't like speaking. People who know me closely know that I'm an introvert. I'm an extrovert.

When I'm on stage, when I'm behind a microphone, but deep down, I don't want to show what I'm doing. I don't like going out meeting with people. I hate networking events. So for me, I found a different way to do it and it's really worked.

You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars. It makes zero sense. I'm going to go spend $2,000 to meet Johnny. Like, what?

How's that going to help you? I'm sorry, but you can just reach out to them by email and probably get back to you. You have a closer connection. I don't know where I was going with that, but essentially my point is you have the funnel out of the people that you're listening to because not everyone's an expert.

Everyone wants to say they're an expert, but not everyone is an expert, but you need to find people who are experts. The best way to do that is by listening to shows I guess and you're going to find out who's an expert. It's people on the show. I swear to God who I've interviewed, who I've interviewed and they've lied about who they are and I know after.

I can check out their websites and check out their social media by the way that they talk. I can tell the people who are really successful and the people who aren't every single time now because I've done it over and over and over again and I bet you if you listen to every episode, you can mark beside their name who is a true expert and who's not. And those true experts, you want to funnel those out, you want to reach out to them and see if they can help you get to that next level. I interviewed someone yesterday, his interview is going to come out, four-time Olympian.

One of the oldest Olympians ever, by the way, was super cool and he was talking about how he got in the speaking business. He said he did the exact same thing he did when he wanted to be an athlete. He found someone who was an expert who would help him get to his ultimate goal and he listened to everything he said. All the mentors and coaches he had, he followed their template to a tee, he didn't wave her from it.

He worked harder than everyone else and what happened is they get you there. They get you there. You have that beginner's mindset. When you have a beginner's mindset, think about when you go to the gym for the first time.

For the first month, you go to the gym, you see the best results. Or for the first month, you stop eating like shit and you eat really healthy. You'll see massive results but you get to a point where that plateaus because you've gone from being a beginner to being someone who's more established. But if you listen to someone, you go to a trainer, you listen, you follow to their tee, their exact templates, listen every day, you'll continue to see leaps and bounds.

I saw it in college. I went from the freshman, I think the freshman 30 I put on and then the next year, I completely lost the weight and got up to like 195 pounds of pure muscle. I look like a football player, I was playing golf, I had to lose some of the muscle to play good golf. But you have a beginner's mindset, you start to see the leaps in your business.

You can just follow a template and it will get you there because people have done it before you. So stop listening to your family and your closest friends. They love you, but sometimes they give out shitty advice. Seek help from true experts, not phonies, but true experts.

And when you do those things, you will take massive action. It will be a natural progression for you because when you get bad advice, you get discouraged, you don't take action. When people give you the shiny object syndrome, you start to do it, but then you realize how much work is actually needed to be put in, you stop because you think that, oh, I'm the loser. It works for everyone else who's doing it two hours a week, but not for me.

Those are people who are lying to you. No matter what it is that they do, there is nothing that is going to take you two hours a week to make money. I promise you, it doesn't exist. They may do two hours now, but it took them hours of hard work in order to get that.

There is no shortcut. You're not taking action because you're getting bad advice. You're fearful of what others are thinking. You're getting shitty advice from people who are telling you that they're true experts.

And those are the three things that help me back. And I'm so passionate about it. I get so frustrated about it because the biggest regret I have as an entrepreneur and what other entrepreneurs have as well is not starting sooner. I could have got started in this space way sooner, but fear helped me back.

People telling me that it wasn't a good idea, help me back. People trying to discourage me and try to give me advice, even though they love me, that held me back from taking action. Action will get you what you want. Action will give you the clarity that you need.

Right now, you're unclear. You don't know what you're going to do. By working, you get clear. By sitting on the couch, thinking, by sitting behind your desk, by traveling into work, in your car, on transit, on a plane, whatever it is that you're doing, wherever you're listening to this right now, instead of listening to this podcast, I want to plead to you either now, you can do it right now, jump off the show and start taking action or listen to the remainder of the episode.

It doesn't matter to me as long, so long as you take action. But what I want out of this episode is one person to email me. Go on my website and email me that they started to take action. I want you to email me right now.

I want you to email me in a week saying, I've been doing this for a week. Here are my results. Thank you. If I get that email from you, I promise you'll give you something that will accelerate the process even further for you, for free, completely free.

I want to reward people today listening to the show who take action. I want to reward people for listening to the 18 minutes that I've spoken so far, who have stuck with me, who haven't gotten discouraged or anything, who are like, you know what? It's time I take action. It's time I change.

I'm hearing shitty advice. I'm tired of being fearful. I'm tired of getting bad advice from entrepreneurs who say they're entrepreneurs, but are coaches. If you start taking action in a week, you reach out to me.

I'll help you accelerate the process. If I can't, I'll introduce you to someone who's been on my show again. That I guarantee. Hope you enjoyed today's episode, everyone.

Enjoy your Friday, enjoy your weekend, keep working, keep grinding as always, but take any time for yourself. Family and friends are super important. Good family and friends are super important. They lift you up.

Make sure that you reach out to them, spend some time, make it dinner, do something nice for someone, make an impact on someone else's life. Make an impact on someone else's life without trying to get anything back in return. We'll be back here Monday with an amazing week lined up, actually. So be super excited about that.

Thanks again, wicks for the amazing support. Have a great weekend. Always remember everyone to keep on Friday.
