We caught Hau between his numerous engagements for Brisbane’s Big Sound festival and proceeded to break down the come-up with someone that has lived the culture. From his early days growing up Tongan in the ACT, to forming Koolism with his childhood friend, DJ Danielsan and on to the national airwaves of Triple J, Hau continues to be about this life. We speak on the responsibility that comes with being at the helm of Australia’s only national platform for hip hop, Triple J’s Hip Hop Show, moving into the media and the importance of Koolism - one of Australia’s greatest duos. Between it all we talk about the influence other prominent local MCs had on him, we talk tours, ARIA’s, religion, albums, robberies, songs, mentoring, family and of course music, which is still the motivation behind all of Hau’s career moves.
