from Breakfast With Tiffany Show · host Tiffany Rossdale / Anjali Rimi

Send us Fan MailFrom “Clubhouse Audio App”, Tiffany met our wonderful guest Anjali, a South Asian diaspora living in the US. They go by she/they and share their journey as an unapologetic transgender advocate. In this talk, Anjali introduces herself as the Co-Founder & President of the inclusionary trans queer organization named Parivar, that translates to Family. Born in India and having lived 20 years in the US, Anjali shares the challenges from both of her homes and the steps towards advocating for equal rights, not special rights. She explains how her journey shaped her standing up for authenticity and bettering the lives of marginalized communities. Her message to aspiring activists is to recognize history, the constantly evolving nature of the movement, and how intersectional identities require equitable solutions to the most vulnerable individuals, even within LGBTQ+ groups. The discussion covers the topic around family, acceptance, values, overcoming self-loath, compassion fatigue, and transparency in the Queer experience. Anjali mentions the lessons from both the Discriminator & Discriminated that robs opportunity in the workplace, community, educational institutions and much more. Such acts in less LGBTQ+ supporting South Asian countries further strip away basic necessities and affect employment and livelihoods of these communties. The irony is that such stigma go against the “two-spirited, half body, third gendered” that thrived for 1000 years in such cultures. Regardless of the dire and life threatening circumstances, Anjali passionately creates safe and healthy spaces against the discrimination in the queer communities as she believes uplifiting such a group will lead to uplifting all. Anjali Rimi is Transwoman, Kinnar Southasian, Immigrant, perfromer, Hinduism experiences and Co-Founder of ParivarBayArea. She serves on the board of Lyon Martin Health Services, LGBT Asylum Project, and San Francisco Pride & on the Transgender Advisory Committee with the Office of Transgender Initiatives, San Francisco Mayor’s office. An advisor to GLBTQ+ Asian Pacific Alliance(GAPA) & San Francisco Queer Film Festival & Sewa International for Transgender visibility and co-chairs the QTAPI Coalition of America.   Follow Anjali on Instagram ~ https://www.instagram.com/anjalirimi/ Non Profit Organization ~ https://parivarbayarea.org Review of the Day ~ Deckart88 Leave us a review, comment and ratings here ~ Spotify ~ https://open.spotify.com/show/52ySZU9QRQOkkCfM2pJaiz?si=96fc6105f4e44a93 Podchaser https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/breakfast-with-tiffany-show-1346455 Breakfast With Tiffany Show Official Facebook Page ~ https://www.facebook.com/breakfastwithtiffanyshow If you find this episode is valuable to you consider a minute to support the podcast by buying us a tea ;) https://www.buymeacoffee.com/tiffanyrossdale Follow Tiffany Rossdale Instagram ~ https://www.instagram.com/tiffanyrossdaleofficial/ Check out the following sponsors; Cryosauna located in Roppongi, Tokyo Japan ~ https://cryosauna.jp/eng/home Pure Shop - https://pureshop.jp Face Care Oil https://pureshop.jp/product/facecareoil Support the showBreakfast With Tiffany Show Official Facebook Page ~ https://www.facebook.com/breakfastwithtiffanyshow   Tiffany's Instagram Account ~ https://www.instagram.com/tiffanyrossdaleofficial/   Breakfast With Tiffany Show Youtube Channel ~  https://bit.ly/3vIVzhE  Breakfast With Tiffany Show Official Page ~ https://www.tiffanyrossdale.com/podcast For questions, requests, collaborations and comments, feel free to reach us via our e-mail ~ [email protected] SUBSCRIBE and SUPPORT us here ~ https://www.buzzsprout.com/1187534/supporters/new
