Send us Fan MailThis amazing episode Carrie shares about being prepared as a mom and what difficult situations there are out there that not many talk about and how to navigate those or where to get the help for that. Come meet Carrie and check out this important conversation. Here is a little bit about Carrie:Carrie is a dedicated self defense and prevention expert and founder of Beating Disaster, a Detroit based, specialty school offering niche training in prevention, protection and defense for women and children. Unfortunate life experience necessitated a passion for teaching karate to evolve into providing training with a focus on mindset, prevention and less violent defense options in order to more realistically and better prepare women and children to protect themselves from the more frequent, overlooked and often unreported causes of harm. In providing unique hands-on training for over a decade, the need for moms to be and feel safe was clear, so the Mama Bear PREPARED offerings were created -including online content, courses and coaching on keeping kids safe, raising children to be prepared for the world, and also safely caring for children with behavioral concerns. Though still teaching karate and offering hands-on training, more time is spent empowering mothers in an online community focused on prevention as well as private coaching and public speaking on concerns relating to protecting physical safety and emotional security. Some of what we chat about:Talks about how her story and what her experiences have made her business today and what Beating Disaster is and can help you with. How the world can be scary and how she grew up and what she did as a kiddo. Where we struggle with using it. In the past loved teaching kids and parents karate and then self defense. How sometimes what you are taught may not work and why. She has important points to think about in different situations. How mindset, mental blocks and how we view things are a huge part of the choices we make, even in the moment when things can go sideways. There are things that you can use, tools that you can use in self defense that will help you and be safe. Her business Momma Bear Prepared, the tools you can use in the every day stuff.
