Ep. 36 - Sermon - John 17:20-26 Jesus Prays for Me
from St. Peter's Helenville · host Pastor Titus
Jesus Prays for Me 1. to Be United 2. to Be Glorified Before Jesus died, actually on the night he would be betrayed and handed over to evil men, our Savior prayed for us. He didn't pray for an easy week, more rest, or a better life, instead, he prayed for those he loved. He prayed for you. His prayer was that in the days ahead, after his crucifixion, resurrection and ascension, the church would fight to stay united. He knew challenges and division were coming based in sin, selfishness, arrogance and so many other things. However, when we are in the Spirit and about the Spirit's mission, preaching the good news to all, he drives us to be united with anyone who listens and believes. Jesus also prayed that through all the challenges ahead, we would draw closer to Him and the hope of everlasting life in heaven. This is what it means to be glorified. As Jesus prepared for his own mission yet he prayed for us, let us also, as we face every challenge, continue to pray for the Church as a whole and for all those who will believe! This sermon was delivered by Rev. Joel Jaeger from Ixonia, WI on May 5th, 2024.
