Ep. 37—FLOODLIGHT: The Sandlot
from The WAYWA Podcast Hosted by The WAYWA Podcast
This week we’re floodlighting the baseball classic, The Sandlot. Phil and Ben agree that it’s the authoritative movie on trying to steal a baseball back from a big evil dog next door and Babe Ruth dream sequences. But it’s also about so much more and offers great insight into baseball culture, boyhood and the perfect movie protagonist. Ben sticks with the sports theme for WAYWA and discusses All-American, an LA-based high school football drama that wades through lots of cultural issues. But does he spend more time in this segment talking about the show or complaining that it’s not as good as Friday Night Lights?
