He also has a strong and extensive background in the governance of several public and private companies. He supports several Auckland based arts and culture charities and is currently chair of the Aroha Collective, a member of the board of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, and a member of the board of the Prince’s Trust New Zealand. He was honoured by the Queen in the 2008 New Year’s Honours List when he was made a Companion of the Queen’s Service Order (QSO) for his services to business, education, and Māori.He is passionate about education and social justice.
