Ep. 38: HIDDEN FIGGAS feat. Dap Man (@metadatapiff)

from HERE COMES THE BACKKLASH · host POOLHOUSE

When Dap Man for his appearance interviewed Poolhouse this summer on Zooted Thinkpad Posse, he was quite literally thinking, “Dap Man could be my cuz!!” Dap Man interviewed Poolhouse this summer, it was clear the Dap Man was not merely an enthusiastic fan, but a talented host and producer in his own right. Dap Man is someone who knew all the right questions to get the Poolhouse.pills dropping, it was also apparent almost immediately that Dap Man was a potential new Backklash Worldwide Operative (friend of the pod? I think we can do better). Dap Man is a whole ass MOOD: his chill disposition, his passion for and deep understanding of music, and his curious nature and natural storytelling abilities, all led Poolhouse to recruit Dap Man to join the program. Now, pretty much every planet was in retrograde at the time of this recording, and Poolhouse’s technical ineptitude (and chronic adherence to CPT) could have derailed the entire the interview. But the magic of Dap Man is such that his sheer presence, his ability to summon tranquility brought order to the affair. Dap Man is a producer’s producer. Sadly, this did not translate into any sort of calming effect on dear Poolhouse, bless his heart, but he was able to deliver this competent, jovial interview in order to give you this chance to really get to know Dap Man After Dark. Join Dap Man @metadatapiff and Poolhouse: two Mavens of the FUNK MUTATION, for this inter-galactic, inter-generational, old-fashioned shoot-the-shit-out. Dap Man expounds on his roots and origins, politics and culture, and vividly brings to life the stories of gis his life! Growing up with a based mom, being a teenage reactionary (slash Andre3000?), being black but not necessarily politically black, how getting covid (and Jussie Smollett) wrong changed him for the better, how the 5 Per Centers played a role in changing his life, and so much more. This is HCTB, baby! We do it all. Vaccines, Jay-Z, K Records, n-word (no hard R), CAR TALK, the Taliban..RHOSLC’s Mary Cosby?? This episode has it ALL.Note: Recorded Thursday, September 21, 2023 - important because I randomly talked about Matt Christman like he was dead, but I did not know that yet when we recorded :( Follow Dap Man on Xhttps://x.com/metadatapiffSubscribe to Zooted Thinkpad Posse:https://redcircle.com/shows/549b7dcb-fdb9-4bf4-800a-67def8c5983f Follow Its Whatever (Dap Man’s music project)Poolhouse on ZTP (Pt. 1 of 2) - all Poolhouse-heads should check this out. I had so much fun with Dap Man & Camille, and I think the average HCTB will probably find them more relatable than I am haha - https://redcircle.com/shows/549b7dcb-fdb9-4bf4-800a-67def8c5983f/ep/9e74f645-fc3d-4689-99ad-794f5473f151Bamiyan Buddhas (I would like to reiterate this is the ONLY point of contention I have with the Taliban, and this was over 20 years ago so if they were really bad guys, surely they would have done something else wrong by now)How the CIA Watched Over the Destruction of Gary Webbhttps://theintercept.com/2014/09/25/managing-nightmare-cia-media-destruction-gary-webb/We need to talk about Mary CosbyJay-Z, “Anything”Additional theme music:The Rolling Stones - Miss You (Dr. Dre Extended Remix)Jay-Z - Jigga My N**** (Instrumental)The Mighty Lemon Drops - Happy Head (as heard on NME C86 compilation) This is a public episode.
