EP 389: Awareness, Resilience, and Well Being

from Showing Up To Life · host Art Burns

As life unfolds, moment by moment, we can find ourselves in a place of well being - we feel stable, yet flexible to adjust to the moment by moment unfolding experience. This is when we feel in the flow. Dr Dan Siegel calls it the River of Well Being. Outside this river of well being are the banks of chaos and rigidity. When we find ourselves in the river of well being, it means our brain is working in integration. On either of the two banks, or brain is dis-integrated. The formal and informal practices of mindfulness promote integration in the brain and also develop the self awareness to know when we have drifted to one of the banks. When we know we have drifted into chaos or rigidity, there are actions we can take to get ourselves back to well being. I share one such exercise in today’s episode. Please let me know if you’d like to learn more.
