Ep. 39: A conversation with Lade Adunbi about oil wealth and cooperation in Nigeria

from Ufahamu Africa · host Lade Adunbi

This week's episode features a conversation with Omolade Adunbi (@LadeAdunbi), a political anthropologist and associate professor at the University of Michigan in the Department of Afroamerican and African Studies. We talk about his award-winning book, Oil Wealth and Insurgency in Nigeria, which was published by Indiana University Press in 2015. His book teaches us about the promises of oil wealth and the entanglements between multinational corporations, transnational institutions, rights NGOs and local communities in the oil-rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria. While much work in a similar vein focuses on conflict, his book teaches us a lot about cooperation.Find the books, links, and articles we mentioned in this episode on our website, ufahamuafrica.com.
