EP 392: Non Identification

from Showing Up To Life · host Art Burns

‘I am _______’ The blank can be filled in with an emotion, a limitation to performance, a physical attribute, etc. But whatever you’re putting in that blank, the statement is simply untrue. No human being can be defined by any single aspect of existence. We are so much more than any description!!! A more accurate statement would be ‘I am experiencing _________ in my body right now.’ The trouble is that we tend to believe our thoughts and internal dialogue. So when we say ‘I am forgetful’ we will experience the emotion of fear. And this will lead to stress in our body. And this can (and often does) lead to all manner of limiting beliefs. These beliefs become part of the empathic resonance I talked about the other day, and when this happens, it inaccurately colors every aspect of our lives. The process of going from an existential to experiential view of our emotions, bodies, habits, etc is called non-identification. Would you like a free practice to help you develop non-identification?
