Ep. 4 - Batman Audio Commentary
from Capes Eat Free · host Martin Russell, Chad Boldini, Chris Rogers, Ryan Ullman, Maggie Ramsey
Capes Eat Free is an auditory experience, brought to you by four friends working in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles. One part DVD commentary, one part podcast, with a large helping of nerdism. Cue up the films and listen along with us as we idolize the caped heroes who may have changed your lives as much as they changed ours, discussing and dissecting the films from four unique perspectives: Chad – “Resident Movie Nerd.” Lover of trivia, movie magic, cinema history, and the filmgoing experience. Martin – “The Thought Junkie.” Closet hippie who loves discussing cinematic themes that can positively influence the world, and connect humanity through a singular lens. Chris – “The Film School Dropout.” Watches for story and structure, but has been known to go to the bathroom during the credits. Ryan – “The Collector.” Buying and trading comic books could have bought him at least 2 and a half Teslas…he bought more comic books instead.
What this episode covers
This week, on CAPES EAT FREE, the guys bat around ideas while watching Tim Burton’s iconic “Batman” from 1989. Journey with them through the dark streets of Gotham as they get completely fooled when the opening scene is NOT another Wayne murder flashback; question whether Christopher Nolan borrowed ideas from this movie for his own trilogy; have a hard time believing that a Batman with glasses could kick ass; and wonder if the ooze that created the Joker was the same ooze that created the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Jump Ahead: 1:41 - "The Film School Dropout" shares the #BeerOfTheWeek from the Concrete Jungle Brewing Company. 2:35 – “The Collector” shares a 1974 Detective Comics #27 Famous First Edition Reprint, and a Batman Animated #12 cover photo signed by Kevin Conroy and others. 9:30 – Batman audio commentary begins.
