Ep. 4, Part 1: Peter Hartlaub's First Ride with the SF Medical Examiner's Office

from Storied: San Francisco · host Jeff Hunt

We all pay our dues somehow. In 1999, budding reporter Peter Hartlaub needed to prove his mettle. He pitched and was assigned a feature story about the San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office, which had been the subject of some bad press in recent months. The experience turned out to be enough for Peter to realize just what type of journalist he needed to be. This is Part 1 of Peter's Storied: San Francisco podcast. It's about the origins and background of his ride-alongs with Medical Examiner's Office investigators Graham Cowley and Bill Tolliver, including Peter's first exposure to their work, and a Peter Rabbit reference. Check back on Thursday for Part 2 of this three-part episode. Film photography by Michelle Kilfeather

The Art of Arms l’Arte Dell Armi At the Art of Arms we have one solitary vision, to bring the historical martial arts we study as HEMA or WMA practitioners to life by telling the stories of those who lived it. The hours of research, writing, transcription and translation are worth it when we get to see Altoni’s Spiedo section in action at the Baglioni Palazzo, Fiore’s armor techniques displayed on the battlefields of San Giovanni in Persiceto, Liectenauer’s rossfechten techniques thundering across the terrain of southern Germany, the Anonimo’s sword and gauntlet brought to bear in the lists of Mantua; these are the moments where history and martial arts meet, and we’re dedicated to bringing these moments to you our dear listeners.
