Ep. 4 | When "No" Really Means New Opportunity
from Tea Talk with Coach Carolyn Hosted by Carolyn Ramona Hantz
In 1979, working full-time and going to school at night, I was told I didn't qualify for financial aid because my mother made too much money. I could have accepted that. I didn't. I went back to the Financial Aid Office, made my case a different way, and talked my way into a Trustee Scholarship. That experience became one of the earliest lessons of my career, and it's still one I lean on today. In this episode I talk about: Why the first "no" you're given rarely tells the whole story The questions to ask before you accept an answer and walk away My own acronym for NO: New Opportunity How persistence and strategy have shaped my career and the women I coach Where accomplished women tend to stop asking too soon Tea Talk reflection: Where have you accepted a "no" that you haven't fully investigated? What if you asked the question another way, talked to a different person, or asked what would have to change? New episodes drop every Tuesday.
