Ep 40: The Razor Thin Line Between Success and Homelessness

Travis Blakeley joins Beth Jones for a raw look at high-functioning addiction and the roots of trauma. Travis shares his journey from a childhood of "transactional love" to the depths of alcoholism that led him to a suicide attempt on a bridge. He discusses his transformative experience with the Men of Nehemiah, how he broke the cycle of generational trauma, and why vulnerability is the only true superpower we have. This conversation explores the dangerous myth that addiction only affects those who "look" like addicts, the spiritual breakthrough that changed everything, and how Travis is now paying forward his healing by helping other men find restoration. -- CHAPTERS -- 00:00 Introduction to Travis Blakeley 05:30 The "Big T" Trauma at age 11 10:16 The addiction to control and performative love 24:24 The marathon deception: Running injured and drunk 30:09 Rock Bottom: The 25-mile walk and the bridge 39:38 The Men of Nehemiah: The march that changed everything 48:25 Shifting motivation: Healing for yourself, not just your family 55:20 The power of clinical, spiritual, and military therapy combined 01:00:00 Paying it forward: The ultimate reward -- FREE RESOURCE --               ✨ Download: The Healing Quick Start Guide → https://empoweredsurvivors.com/heal -- WORK WITH BETH -- ✨ Mentoring 1:1 → https://empoweredsurvivors.com/work-with-me ✨ Book: "Becoming an Empowered Survivor" → https://empoweredsurvivors.com/books   -- CONNECT WITH BETH -- ✨ Website → https://empoweredsurvivors.com/ ✨ TikTok → @BethJonesHEALingMentor   -- CONNECT WITH TRAVIS BLAKELEY -- ✨ Through Beth: [email protected]   Thank you for listening to this podcast.
