Created in 2011 with a mission to bring together the community through sharing true, personal stories, Oral Fixation is Dallas’ most thrilling live storytelling series for adults. Each show has a theme which is always an idiom, a phrase that has both a literal and a figurative meaning. The evening of stories is curated and heavily edited by Stewart, who solicits submissions from the general public. She selects a diverse range of stories to create an hourlong evening that takes the audience on an emotional journey. One moment the audience is laughing in recognition of shared experiences. The next, tears may come as storytellers courageously reveal their truths. The result is an experience that is cathartic for both the tellers and the listeners.
