[Ep 43] When Helping Hurts: Establishing Boundaries When Caring for Others with Counselor Nicole Fryling

from Journal Gently: Healing with God through quiet reflection, honest conversations, and gentle journaling · host Kari Bartkus - Love Does That

Have you ever had a friend or family member who was going through a challenging situation and you wanted to help them, only to realize that your help wasn't actually all that helpful? Today, we are talking about those moments when we might be hurting or enabling someone through our actions, which doesn't really lead to the help or healing they need in their lives. What does it look like to set healthy and God-honoring boundaries? How do we know the specific ways we can help someone through a season? I just got off a call with counselor Nicole Fryling and we talked about this very topic of how to help others in a way that doesn't hurt them—or you—in the process. There are so many practical tips and biblical truths packed in here, you are going to want to grab some paper and write them down. Let's dive into my conversation with Nicole. Kari   ABOUT NICOLE: Nicole Fryling is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan and a graduate of Grand Rapids Theological Seminary.
