EP 434: Personality Types

from Showing Up To Life · host Art Burns

When we are born into this world, we come with certain predispositions that make up a part of our personality. Western psychology would call this genetic coding, while eastern philosophies would call it Karma. Whatever you want to call it, this aspect of your personality is just part of the picture. The rest of our personality is influenced by our experiences with the parents, friends, teachers, coaches, etc. And as we take this influence and apply it, moment-by-moment throughout our lives, the personality traits become stronger and more pronounced and have a more powerful impact on our moment to moment experience. Essentially, we practice this personality and it becomes more deeply rooted. But this is not who you truly are, and with the right balance of patience, acceptance, self-compassion, and curiosity, you can transform this outward-facing personality into something that is a source of happiness and well being. In today’s episode, I go through the personality types that spring from the negative mental states we covered yesterday. I also give you an idea on how to transform your dominant personality type and a quiz to help you identify your specific dominant personality type. This is a lot, so if you have a question about any of it, please reach out and let me know!
