Ep. 45 - The Gritty Dentist

from Chasing the Kingdom · host John Balauat - Kingdom Business Coach, Christian Entrepreneur

In this episode of “Chasing the Kingdom” I have a conversation with Brent Wong, an entrepreneur who built a successful dental business, which includes 3 different practices. Brent took a year off to spend time with his family and to build Shine the Light Initiative, a ministry he founded with his wife Wendy, that provides dental care to the world’s underserved populations in the Name of Jesus. God blessed his business — and even though he was only working 25 hours a month to keep the business running, he had no loss in revenue! Listen in to part 1 of his story! About Brent Wong: Brent Wong is, above all, a child of God and also is a loving husband to Wendy and a dedicated father to Jonah and Isaiah. In 2000, Brent earned his second university degree, a Doctorate of Dental Medicine. By 2004, he had ventured into private practice, and today owns three general dentistry practices employing five dentists. His current focus is on dental implants and oral surgery for full-arch rehabilitation, as well as enjoying the entrepreneurial aspects of the dental business. In 2005, Brent and Wendy founded the Shine the Light Initiative, providing dental care to the world's underserved populations, from Africa to Mexico. Presently, their efforts are concentrated in a barrio of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Their ministry has built over 75 homes and a community center, with the support of groups from Canada and the United States. Over the past 19 years, more than 1200 people have come down on over 50 trips to help the underserved in the Dominican Republic Looking ahead, Brent plans to increase the number of trips to the Dominican Republic and expand job training programs at their community center, which is slated for an expansion project later this year. Brent firmly believes that lifting people out of poverty begins with a helping hand and ends when you have the honour of letting go.
