Ep 456: How to Pay Attention to Arriving
from Showing Up To Life · host Art Burns
So often, we tend to say things like: ‘What a bad and difficult day this has been!’ Now, I don’t mean to diminish any difficulty you may have experienced during the day, but are you sure the whole day was difficult? Or is it more accurate to say that a few things were difficult and these few stand out experiences are coloring your perception of the whole day? Because the reality is that life doesn’t happen day by day. Nor does life happen week by week, month by month, or year by year. Life happens moment by moment in an arising action. Our emotions, our thoughts, and even the physical sensations of our bodies arise in this present moment. And when we train ourselves to notice this arising, we can easily see this moment by moment opportunity to come back to the present moment with acceptance, compassion, and curiosity. In today’s episode, I give you two practices you can start right now to train your mind in this way. And here are some links I want to share with you: Here’s the link to register for this week’s FREE mindfulness meeting: https://www.meetup.com/learning-to-surf-talks-on-buddhism-meditation-mindfulness/events/276652871/ Here’s the link to The Learning to Surf Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/learning-to-surf-talks-on-buddhism-dharma-riding-waves/id1512499997 And if you’re interested in becoming a patron (there was one spot left in the upper tier at a lower price!) you can join here: https://www.patreon.com/artburns
