from Taste and Seek · host Linnea Smith

Synopsis:If you’ve been part of the anti- sex trafficking movement in the Lehigh Valley, you’re most likely familiar with the work of Dr. Heather Evans. She is a leader in the anti-trafficking space as well as in domestic/church abuse and trauma. I invited her to talk about the importance of developing a theology of suffering and keeping hope in light of the work she does. Suffering happens to us all and we have the choice of how we'll respond to it. Even if you’re not a counselor, she shares practical how-tos from the stay at home parent to a business CEO to come alongside those who are suffering. In this episode you will hear:Encouragement to move from knowledge to actionEngage your heart and mind while learning about others' storiesLearn from survivors how to find hopeDevelop a theology of suffering through a Christian perspectivePut on new lenses when suffering comes into our livesPost-traumatic growth reminds us of the resurrection that Jesus gives us in our livesResources mentioned:- Dr. Diane Langberg- Carolyn Curtis James The Gospel of Ruth- Voices of Survivors Project- Howard Thurman Jesus and the Disinherited- Night by Elie Wiesel - Corrie ten Boom- American Bible Society- Tim Keller's Walking With God Through Pain and Suffering- Deeper by Dane OrtlundTo connect with Heather and her services, follow her on her website at https://evanscounselingservices.com/Anchored in Peace is happening on May 2, 2026 in Allentown, PA!Anchored 2026 Tickets now available!
