Ep 46 Inspired Mental Wellness w/ Laura Jacobs

from Untamed Psyche Podcast

Laura Jacobs, our July guest, lived experiences that shaped her life and transformed her journey to become a therapist for teens, young adults, as well as those who have experienced infertility trauma and grief. No two experiences are the same, but she empathizes with her patients, due to her own experiences and hold space for her clients, without judgment. She discusses on Ep 46 & 47 she discusses the struggles with infertility. IVF treatments, and how she addressed the traumas that follows the disappointments when things do not turn out like she had expected.  She is a true believer in equity and integrity and recognizes that our cultural and social systems are severely lacking in both of those values. She stresses that our mental health is not only affected by challenges in our personal lives, but the way our cultural structures, systems, and norms impact - and often oppress and harm - us, too. While we can't dismantle those larger social issues in our therapy sessions, she can offer you a safe, affirming place to explore their impact. Quote:  "You are the expert in your own life. And I'm here to help you work through whatever barriers you are facing, so you can embrace that inner expert."
