Summary
It was not love at first sight. There was some head scratching and questioning about why OMT worked, without satisfactory answers. It took dedicated reading and a mentor like Phil Greenman, D.O. to demonstrate and explain why and how OMT works. Dr. Greenman lives on through Dr. DeStefano as she strives to teach the next generation of osteopathic physicians about OMT. For her OMT is not about learning osteopathic modalities, rather importance should be given to a detailed and comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy, a profound understanding of the arthrokinematics reflex of joints and how this may inhibit muscles. The end goal is improving a patient’s function and thereby improving their quality of life. Email: [email protected].
