Did you grow up learning that you were never good enough?  Did it feel normal when your abusive partner started their emotional and psychological abuse in your relationship?Growing up with a narcissistic parent can set you up for unhealthy relationships as an adult.Dr. Praveena specializes in working with adult children of narcissistic parents after her own experiences growing up.  In this episode, we discuss how to change the thought patterns that were conditioned in your mind as a child and how to stop people-pleasing.  Dr. Praveena shares the framework she uses with survivors to find freedom from their narcissistic parents, but also those toxic thoughts that keep survivors stuck in that cycle.  One of the first steps in to find self-forgiveness and self-love as you try to take control of your life and find freedom.Dr. Praveena is a Certified Mental Health & Awareness practitioner and works with parental narcissistic abuse victims. She uses various techniques and coping mechanisms, including her personal life experience, to help victims recognize abusive behaviors, heal and live an empowered life. She has also created a framework known as the Narcissistic Victim Empowerment Technique (NVET) to help victims find freedom from manipulating and controlling thoughts of toxic parenting. She understands that many may find it difficult to speak about parental narcissistic abuse due to the trauma bondage and societal perception associated with it, hence Dr Praveena takes it as a personal mission to empower as many individuals out there to take the reins of their own life. Dr. Praveena has a dedicated column called “Mind the Mind” in The Sun; Malaysia’s national daily where she writes about mental health awareness. Also, she sits at the board of Malaysia Mental Health Association (MMHA) On the professional front, Dr. Praveena wears various hats. As an engineer, academician, researcher and avid animal activist, she holds notable positions in multiple non-profit organizations and serves as a voice for issues pertaining to the environment and animals.
