Ep 48: How to Stand Out in a Saturated Market

from The Speak to Scale Podcast

Are you ready to add speaking to your creative business? In our last episode, Cassandra Thompson discussed how to use LinkedIn as one of the best social platforms to raise your speaker credibility in order to get more speaking engagements. As creative business owners, it's easy to fall prey to the excuse that we're struggling to book speaking engagements or even in our business due to the market being over saturated in our industry. While building credibility certainly is one effective way to stand out in your zone of genius, today I'm going to discuss some other methods to make your speaking topic stand out even if you feel others are already speaking about it. Do you want to book more speaking engagements and have an incredible client experience that finally allows you to charge what you're worth? I'd also love to hear about your biggest takeaway. Take a screenshot of you listening on your device, post it to your Instagram Stories and tag us @thecreativespeakerpodcast.   In the episode you'll hear: There's no such thing as a saturated market When we're focused on something (like our speaking topic) we tend to hear it everywhere because our ears are on alert. Don't let this fool you into relating this to your market being over saturated Sometimes it's best to put your blinders on and unfollow people on social media who might make you feel like your market is saturated. I DONT FOLLOW ANYONE WHO DOES THE SAME WORK I DO Reach outside your bubble and look for inspiration beyond your peers You have to believe that you're 100% behind the ideas that you have Just because your topic has been talked about before doesn't mean you aren't the best person to deliver the content Deliver your content to an organizer in a way that they cannot say no Your inspiration should come from your clients. Make your topic as "client-centered" as possible Don't hesitate to ask your audience Niche down your business and content to stand out. Get clear on YOUR unique factor The way you work with your clients What got you into the business to begin with What do you bring to the table that others don't What are the things your clients say the most about you What are your clients asking for? Make your presentation and content unique. Refresh your topics Maybe share something new or hot you've learned and that is applicable to your industry? Develop your relationship with the host or organizer of an event if you want the best chances of being selected Are you following their social platforms? Are you on their email list? Are you commenting on their social platform content? Don't stalk or pester, but remember there's a human on the other side!   For full show notes and links, visit: http://www.thepublicspeakingstrategist.com/shownotes/048
