Ep. 48 - PBC - James 4:1-12 - Submit to God: His Will, Law, Judgement, & Mercy
from St. Peter's Helenville · host Pastor Titus
In this episode, Pastor G & T wrestle with the difficult concept of submission. However, as we thought and talked about it in the context of James' words and one of creation and creator, it became easy to accept our submission to God. However, in practice this still remains very difficult. This means God is right and we are not. This means his standards are always good. This means our ways and our wants are often not the priority nor should they be. We only see and understand a small part of our Father's plans for us. He really does know best and we have to TRUST his good intentions and solid record of always following through for His people. Another aspect of submission that we talk about in reference to these verses is that we submit ourselves to the needs and wants of others. Why would we do that? It is not very self-serving! Exactly! God calls us to "have the same attitude as Christ Jesus who made himself nothing... (Phil 2)." As fellow humans, we are not to lord it over or exert our will over others around us, instead we are to treat them as equals and as fellow sinners who need a Savior. Tune in for more! Pastor Gunnar Ledermann & Pastor Titus Buelow continue their journey of reading the People's Bible Commentaries chapter by chapter, book by book. As they read each section of commentary, they give their personal reflections and comments for you to ruminate on and use as a springboard for your own personal study and growth as a child of God. May this be a blessing to you as you Bible Study. Godspeed! You can find the People's Bible Commentaries here for purchase or download: https://online.nph.net/books/nph-series/the-peoples-bible
