EP 489: Why we Worry

from Showing Up To Life · host Art Burns

The first thing I want to point out today - and this is super important - is that your tendencies towards whatever emotional reactivity you experience is not your fault. The same applies to your worrying mind. It’s not your fault. Just like the rest of the programming, we undergo through those first seven or so years of our life, the worrying and emotional reactivity are learned responses over which you have had little or no control throughout your life. Yes, you have personal agency and free will. So, in a sense, you could say that whether or not you choose to use the knowledge and tools to change these aspects of your personality from this point forward is on you. But before you learned about any of this, none of it was your fault. In today’s episode, I talk about this in depth and also about why we worry: In today’s video I also talk about a new program I’m set to launch in 2-3 weeks from now. If you have any questions about that, or if you’d like to discuss the practice at the end of today’s video (or to ask any question you might have, including a request for me to cover a specific topic), click here to book a no-cost, no-obligation phone consultation: https://calendly.com/artburns/45-min-coaching-session If you’d like to join us tomorrow morning for a sweet guided meditation and compelling discussion, click here to register: https://www.meetup.com/learning-to-surf-talks-on-buddhism-meditation-mindfulness/events/gggcgsyccgbwb/ And if you’d like to become a patron of my work, please click here: https://www.patreon.com/artburns
