Ep. 49 - Sermon - Revelation 20:1-6 - You Have No Power Here, Dragon!

Have you wondered what it all means in the book of Revelation? There is no doubt Revelation is a confusing book that has confounded scholars from accross the world and throughout time since it was written. But does that mean we can't know for sure anything from its words? Does that mean we should avoid it? No. "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." We need Revelation because it is God's revealed Word to us about things unseen and unspoken from the beginning of time, from right now, and from the future yet to be. These visions give us pictures of things we have no frame of reference for and no personal experience. Revelation peels back the veil and shows us the spiritual war going on behind the scenes and the victory Jesus has won through his death on the cross and his now rule on high on behalf of his church. Soon will come the culmination of that victory on the last day when ALL will be made right. Tune into this interesting sermon that tries to shed light on some of the beautiful pictures from Revelation for the purpose of giving us confident hope during uncertain times. Sermon Text: Revelation 20:1-6 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time. I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5(The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
