Ep 49 The Loco Unicorn: Death of a Unicorn, Healing Horn Myths, and the Medicine Behind the Magic

This week on the Medical Media Mixer Podcast, we’re stepping into the magical and the medicinal. First, we break down the A24 film Death of a Unicorn (starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega), a dark comedy where myth collides with modern greed. Then, we journey through history to explore how unicorn horns—or “alicorns”—were once treasured as universal antidotes, plague cures, and symbols of purity. Finally, to bring a little sparkle to the mix, we sip on our featured drink, the Loco Unicorn cocktail: a whimsical, tropical blend that channels the fantasy and fun of these legendary creatures. 📚 Sources & Further Reading 🎬 Film Death of a Unicorn – Wikipedia – Overview of the 2025 A24 film starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega. 🦄 Unicorn Horns in Myth & Medicine The Magic of the Unicorn Horn – Ancient Origins – How unicorn horns were believed to purify water, protect from poison, and heal disease.
