Ep 5: Dr. Jim Kroll on Research Misconduct

On this episode of the "Research in Action" podcast, I am joinedby Dr. Jim Kroll, the Director of Research Integrity andAdministrative Investigations for the National Science Foundation'sOffice of the Inspector General, where he has worked since 2001. Inthis role, Jim is primarily responsible for leading theinvestigation and resolution of all allegations that, ifsubstantiated, would result in administrative action rather thancivil or criminal prosecution. These include such things asallegations of research misconduct under NSF proposals and awards;certain types of employee misconduct; and violations of NSFregulations, policy or directives. Prior to working for the OIG,Jim served 21 years as a meteorological officer with the U.S. AirForce. Jim completed his undergraduate studies at RutgersUniversity where he received his B.S. in Meteorology.
