EP. 5 Networking. Another dirty word? How to make it work for you.

from Keeping It Real with Jac and Ral · host Jac and Ral

Someone once told us their definition of networking was unskilled people getting hired for jobs over people who were actually skilled. But real, effective networking doesn’t involved greasing up to people, nor does it mean handing out or collecting zillions of business cards (does anyone even have these anymore?) it’s actually a systemic and deliberate process of building and maintaining relationships that are mutually beneficial. Ask Harvard   Many of us struggle with the concept of networking because it seems inauthentic. Promoting yourself to get something. Yet those who are well networked will tell you it’s about connection, helping others, being interested and recognising meeting new people is an opportunity to learn.   And thanks to technology, networking today doesn’t have to be a face to face meeting every week or every month… it could be a text, email or Linked In message.   In episode 5, Jac and Ral share 4 great tips on evaluating your current network, how to build your network for the goals you have, how to maintain your network and how to use clever introductions to get in front of the people that matter. They even tell you how not to network… it involves picking brains over a coffee… we aint that cheap!!   And hopefully you’re not the ‘networker’ Dave they refer to in this episode!! ------------------------------------------------------------------- New Episode Every Monday 7am Follow the show https://www.instagram.com/keepingitrealwithjacandral/ https://open.spotify.com/show/5yIs5ncJGvJyXhI55Js0if?si=aCNOdB68QnOGnT0vCTPcPg Follow Jac https://www.linkedin.com/in/jacphillips/ https://www.instagram.com/jac.phillips.coaching/ Follow Ral https://www.linkedin.com/in/gabrielledolan/ https://www.instagram.com/gabrielledolan.1/ Produced by Keehlan Ferrari-Brown.
