Ep: 5 - Tapping into Mindfulness with Jane O’Loughlin

from Tapping into...with Sarah Tobin · host Sarah Tobin

Personally I’ve always struggled being present. I’ve spent most of my life living in the past or the future. Being ‘mindful’ always felt like an alien concept to me. But slowly over the past few years, through Tapping I’ve become more present and aware of my own emotions, but I realise I’ve a long way to go before I fully engage with this practice.I felt very drawn to tapping into Mindfulness a bit further and could not think of a better person to talk to than Jane. She’s from Dublin and we met nearly 3 years ago and have kept in touch ever since. She has such a calming influence and I hope you can take some nuggets out of this conversation that will help you become more aware and present in your daily life. This was recorded in early September in between lock downs for our Irish friends (who as of 26th October are in their second national lock down). I'm hoping there are some key points here for those of you having to dig deep and tap into your inner resilience.Key takeawaysWhat mindfulness is and what it isn’t!Explaining formal and informal practiceAdvice for Mums on how to start being more mindfulIncorporating compassion into your dayThe impact of Covid19 on mental healthAdvice on what to do right nowThe benefits of mindfulness + being your own best friendHow to work with the inner critical voicePreparing your self-care toolboxAbout Jane:Jane is a Mindfulness teacher and author in the educational field who lives in Dublin with her husband and three young children.
