Ep. 51 - Conscious Coffee

from The Conservation Conversation - Season 1 · host Erik E. Crown

Today we speak with special guest Gilbert Ndizey discusses how he has transformed coffee production from problematic to positive -  using organic coffee production as a way to save the environment, the animals, and children. Gilbert estimates one poacher can kill 100 animals a day in the wild in Uganda, so by hiring ex-poachers he not only saves the animals, but provides a way for the poachers to make a living, and the profits go to the peace and prosperity orphanage, where he helps over 200 children orphaned when their poacher parents were killed. As Gilbert says "we now have future conservationists instead of future poachers".
