EP 527: Honoring Our "Small" Trauma
from Showing Up To Life · host Art Burns
I think it’s common for many of us to view the adverse experiences of our lives and minimize the effects those experiences have had on us as we compare our own experiences to those of others who seem to have gone through something much harder than we have. But while this is common (certainly true for me!), it is very detrimental to our physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. We should learn to honor every bit of the difficulty of our lives as true and real for us, no matter how it compares to anyone else. Because, as I explain through a personal story in today’s episode, even experiences that seem almost silly in their insignificance can cause issues for the rest of our lives: As I mention in today’s episode, if the experiences you are possibly ignoring are rooted in trauma such as abuse, I urge you to seek out the help of a mental health professional. If you need help determining whether you should be seeing a professional therapist (I am not one), I invite you to click this link and book your free coaching session with me: https://calendly.com/artburns/45-min-coaching-session
