Genesis 34 opens with tragedy; Dinah, Jacob's daughter, is violated by Shechem, a Hivite prince who then wants her as his wife. What follows is a tense negotiation between two families, a shocking act of deception involving circumcision, and a massacre carried out by Dinah's brothers, Simeon and Levi.But at the center of it all is Jacob, strangely silent when he first hears the news, and later more concerned with his family's reputation than with justice for his daughter. This episode digs into that silence, the brothers' brutal response, and the haunting question they leave us with: "Should he treat our sister like a prostitute?"
