EP 546: Trauma and Stress can Look Like a Disability

from Showing Up To Life · host Art Burns

Yesterday, I talked about the fact that we don’t have the ability to control someone’s actions, emotions, or thoughts. But that’s really just half the equation! Many times when someone’s behavior seems absurd and triggers our anger or frustration, we tend to think: ‘Why does this person act like this???’ And yet, most of the time this is a rhetorical question and only leads to more anger, frustration, and resentment. But what happens if we ask that question honestly? In today’s episode, I talk about this. And as I mention at the end of the episode, it’s not just childhood trauma that creates this condition; stress alone can make someone act in a ‘disabled’ way.
