The spooky season is upon us, Annette and Chell talk about what they like to read and listen to this time of year and what they would like to read over the coming weeks. Some of Annettes favourites are old school 90s classics 13 Tales of Horror a point horror anthology, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz and a super hard recommendation for The September House by Carissa Orlando which sounds spooky as F@~k. In her to be read pile is Out There Screaming: An Anthology of New Black Horror curated by Jordan Peele (director of Get Out) and All Hallows by Christopher Golden full of 1980s nostalgia Stranger Thing’s vibes. Chell is totally unprepared but inspired by Annettes lists recommends a NIGHTLIGHT an ‘award winning horror fiction podcast featuring creepy tales written by Black authors from all over the world’ (https://nightlightpod.com/), her to be read pile includes The Case Against Saten by Ray Russell, written 10 years before the exorcist and rumoured to have inspired it. Currently reading Fearsome Fairies: Haunting Tales of the Fae (British Library Hardback Classics) which as a beautiful hard cover and reads a little extract from Bats in the Library by Brian Lies.
