Ep. 55 Women in Church Leadership
from Faith in Focus · host Faith in Focus
Have questions or comments about this (or a previous) episode, give us a text! There has been a long standing belief in Christianity that women are forbidden to be in a position of leadership within the Church; much of this is rooted in 1 Timothy 2:11-14. In the recent decades, however, there has been a push for women to be in positions of church leadership as equality in the sexes has become the norm. This has created a divide in the Church over some segments who believe we've "progressed" beyond male-only leadership and other segments that want to be faithful to what they believe the Bible is teaching.Maybe there is a better way to look at 1 Timothy 2:11-14 that helps address the call of women to lead in the Church but also addresses the concerns of the Christians who desire to be faithful to God's Word. Maybe this passage has a much more reasonable interpretation; one that fits the context of the passage as well as the scope of the New Testament context of women leading in the Church. If you have any questions or comments that you'd like Dennis to address you can shoot him an email to [email protected] to the "Faith in Focus" substack by following the link here to get articles directly to your inboxAnd if you'd like to support his ministry with InFaith you can text the word "discipleship" to 41444 or head over to https://infaith.org/dennis-sutherby and give there.
