Ep. 56: The Power of Gratitude (Happy Thanksgiving!)

from Breaking Free from OCD, Anxiety & Stress with Matt Codde · host Matthew Codde LCSW

Gratitude is a simple, but powerful tool for our mental health. Gratitude begins with our thoughts, but on a much deeper level, it’s about cultivating a genuine feeling of appreciation for the positive things currently in your life. By generating a genuine feeling of appreciation and abundance it will raise your internal state which will ultimately drive more positive behaviors and interactions in your life. The reality is, we ALL have so many things to be grateful for and it is so easy to lose sight of them. In fact, most of us are simply just trying to keep our head above water in our busy day-to-day lives that we don’t even have the time to think about this stuff, let alone enjoy it. In order to interrupt this cycle, we have to start with a conscious decision to hit pause. And I can’t think of a more perfect time to do this than the week of Thanksgiving. So this week, I just wanted to share some of the things that I’m grateful for in my life and encourage you to do the same so you can enjoy the power of gratitude in your life. I hope you enjoy this special episode and I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.
