Picture this: I am a year out of college and I'm having a full-blown panic attack on the floor of my room because I suddenly realize that I'm $36,000 in consumer credit card debt. I realized the gravity of the financial mistakes I'd made and I was embarrassed, ashamed, and I had no idea what to do. Over the next few years, I had to work hard (so hard) to get myself out of the financial mess I'd gotten myself into... and today, I'm thankful that my husband and I remain debt free and we are diligent to be good stewards of our finances. Bola Sokunbi, the founder and creator of Clever Girl Finance, has made it her mission to empower women to be in control of their finances. Growing up in Nigeria, she saw how many women were completely unaware of the family finances... her father and mother taught her important lessons on saving, giving, and spending and she has since taken those lessons and created a business to help others.
