Erin shares the story of how it was founded in 2012 by retired Army Major Zachariah Fike. It all began when Zach was gifted a Purple Heart medal by his mother. Zach turned the medal over, revealing the name of PVT Corrado Piccoli, and he went on a mission to bring this heart home to PVT Piccoli's family. Since then the PHR staff and meticulous researchers have received and returned Purple Heart medals and other military memorabilia to loved ones. They do this with great respect and honor, giving closure to the family and highlighting the unique story of the life and history of service behind the medal.
