After winning teacher of the year for Austin Independent School District, James Butler left the traditional classroom to work in the district’s SEL — or social and emotional learning — department, and now he brings mindfulness to classrooms from pre-K to high school., who recently released an SEL coloring book for parents, teachers and kids alike, talks to us about kids and emotional awareness, and how these types of practices can transform the culture of schools from the inside out.
