His parents Sarah (Toni Collette) and Tom (Adam Scott) don't love each other like they used to, he doesn't get to hang out with his sister Beth now that she's a teenager and no one seems to get along with Aunt Linda, Uncle Howard and their kids...and yet they see them every year. It isn't until his cousins mock his belief in Santa and his heartfelt wish that everyone just got along that Max truly gives up.
