Ep.59 Listening to the whole person - Charles Beck, D.O.
from The Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Podcast · host Benjamin Greene, MHS, Lic, D.O. and Jordan Little, DO
His medical journey began while on a repelling adventure in undergrad, when he helped rescue an injured climber who had fallen 80 ft. Following this experience, he began his medical journey. Having grown up building things and thinking like an engineer, the philosophy and concepts of osteopathy were a natural fit. He was blessed with incredible mentors such as Ed Stiles who taught him the importance of knowing the systems of the body well so as to better understand their influence on the musculoskeletal system. Dr. Stiles taught him Sequencing – the application of osteopathic principles to any part of the body rather than learning a series of techniques. He has learned how to observe, ask proper questions and listen to the whole patient. He says the more you know about how the body works as a unit of movement the more efficacious your treatments will be. Enjoy my conversation with Dr. Charles Beck, D.O.
