If today, you were robbed, got into a car accident with a drunk driver, kidnapped, physically assaulted or financially scammed -- you would tell everyone you know, run to the police and possibly post about it on social media. You would be angry at the perpetrator. However, you yourself wouldn't feel bad that someone robbed you. You wouldn't blame yourself if a drunk driver hit you. No one would ask you what you were doing driving at 2 AM if a drunk driver hit you. I can openly talk about being robbed and I wouldn't make anyone feel uncomfortable and it wouldn't be a conversation stopper. But let me tell you about the babysitter that molested me when I was four or tell you about another incident… And you immediately clam up and don't want to talk to me.
