Ep 6. / Somlói Vándor aka Tamás Kis, about winemaking on "the most volcanic hill of all"

from Wine Ghosts · host Máté Vass

Tamás, the man behind the 'Somlói Vándor' wines, welcomed us in his tasting room built from rocks of the volcanic hill and portrayed the philosophy behind winemaking on this unique “Witness Mountain”. We tasted three impressive whites from his cellar together, which have proved the special character of the hill as well as its flagship variety, the Juhfark! Furthermore, you can hear the legend of the “wedding night wine” and why Tamas doesn’t believe in it anymore, the typicity of vineyards on all four sides of the mountain, best food matches with these smoky wines and as always: much more! In my eyes, Tamas is a young, authentic and honest winemaker, who takes care of the heritage of this exceptional terroir, and calls it “the most volcanic of all”!   Guest: Tamás Kis from the 'Somlói Vándor' wine estate, Somló Hill, Hungary | Instagram: @somloivandor Wine Ghosts Instagram: @wineghosts Wine Ghosts E-Mail: [email protected]
